Bonjour, cozy cuties! Are we feeling festive? Are we feeling stressed? Are we feeling spooky-scary after seeing Saltburn? Are we seeking some form of comfort as we kick off December? Feelings aside, it’s always nice to take a quick mental break for satisfying visuals, and eat with our eyes for a sec, if you will.
One of the comfiest aspects of the holiday season is sharing snacks with friends near and far. This season, Deb’s sharing her favorite food imagery from her stint in London, Milan, and Paris this fall. So, sit down, scroll, and dissociate with the help of fire food that might even inspire some of your own cooking this holiday season.
Greenery, dairy, meats, and sweets come together in all forms as Deb makes her way from London to Milan and Paris. She often reaches for quiche, leafy greens, and a fresh juice for fuel when traveling, and the spread in London’s Dover Street Market, Rose Bakery, satisfies this exact itch. The Four Seasons Hotel in Milan is also home to a strikingly colorful and floral salad known to reinvigorate Deb’s spirit after a long morning of exploration.
Carbs are a must when on the fashion run. Naturally, the continent provides ample opportunities for gluten at spots like Cafe de la Mairie, Le Comptoir, Les Deux Magots, and Takumi Patisserie in Paris. From hardy breakfast sandwiches, prosciutto and nectarines, elaborate pastries, and phenomenal room service fruits and teas, Paris might offer some of Deb’s favorite foods in both the states and abroad.
Of course, all the big league carbs reside in Milan. From pasta to focaccia pizza, Deb’s tried and true favorite, Princi, always packs a punch and leaves Deb longing for much needed tea time recovery. We’d also be remiss not to call out the coolest of carbs (stunning egg sando) at Cafe Kitsune in London. Fortunately, this is one of the few and fabulous multilocation establishments Deb adores, so if you find yourself in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, you can grab a couple goodies of your own without a transatlantic trek.
Naturally, most of us will not be flying across the pond any time soon, but we do hope this photo journal inspires you to treat yourself this holiday season. Food is such a gift. It connects communities, and we need it to survive. We hope you’ll head to your own favorite spots this December for a little pick me up here and there. Plus, it never hurts to treat someone you love as well. We wish you happy noshing and look forward to seeing what you’re snacking on as we chew our way through the final days of 2023.
