Good tidings and great joy! With the most wonderful time of the year behind us now, we’re excited to share one of the most successful Letters to Santa experiences yet.
As many of you may know, every holiday season the SCOUT team and the greater Washington DC community participates in Letters to Santa, a program designed to support underserved families in the DC area. When Deborah Waterman Johns first got involved with Letters to Santa over 30 years ago, the letters were delivered through the post office. Today, families are encouraged to send letters with helpful information about their kids with details such as clothing and shoe sizes as well as any other special gift requests via fax machine. And, without missing a beat, the letters literally start flooding in on the first of DC public school openings.
Our fantastic team looks forward to Letters to Santa each year. And, of course, Deb is the magical Mrs. Claus who makes every detail possible. Gifting is king at SCOUT Bags, so our elves always deliver.
When selecting both fun and practical gifts for our families, there is a true talent and passion involved. It’s an honor to have the help of our friends, family, SCOUT team members, and DC community with all the extra shopping, wrapping, and gift delivery.
Our extra-large 4 Boys Bags make delivery a snap and come in handy all year long. These large, lightweight, weather-proof bags are perfect for packing in any car, for in-home storage, and for moving household items that require more volume. Fun fact: this year we purchased a record number of bikes, which is fabulous, right?
Like the magical folklore of the season itself, the tradition of Letters to Santa gets passed on with the spread of our fax number and word of mouth. We're already looking forward to the next one. We hope Santa was good to you as well and that the cheer of the season lasts well into 2024. Happy New Year from our crew to yours. We look forward to celebrating with you all year long!
