WHAT'S IN THE BAG: Wedding welcome gifts

Do you remember the 21st night of September? Yeah, well, we sure do, because it’s the night Gussie Johns (our co-founders' daughter) and Alice Mercer were wed at the Johns family home in Georgetown. We know it sounds nearly impossible as we just celebrated GO BO in Deb and Ben’s backyard, like, three weeks ago, but if there’s one thing the Johns know how to do, it’s throw a party. This week join us for a very special and very sneaky peek at Gussie and Alice’s wedding welcome bags. Ba-dee-ya dee-ya dee-ya!

If there’s going to be SCOUT, there’s going to be a pattern. Naturally, Gussie and Alice had a bespoke wedding toile, similar to our STATEment Collection, but with hand drawings of their own favorite destinations and places of meaning. These same destinations were individually framed and hung on a seating chart with the names of each guest listed by destination coordinating with table number.

Stuffed with the brides’ favorite snacks, these custom coolers were filled with Spindrift, Chex Mix, Oreos, gummy bears, Doritos, and Gatorade electrolyte powder. But, the crown jewel of the haul was a fresh bag of our beloved BQgranola. This batch of granola was baked by our dear friend, Becky Quinn, specifically for the big wedding weekend. Amidst the goodies was a welcome card featuring important event locations, itinerary, “run of show,” and other helpful info for the lucky guests.

Deb and the Johns boys stuffed roughly 120 bags for singles and couples, which were distributed at the welcome party hosted at the Wonderbread Factory rooftop at the mark and at the wedding to all the guests.

Of course, we must highlight our “bridal survival kits” for Alice and Gussie. These fail-proof pouches from Mud Pie held the brides’ favorite candy and gum, John Derian engagement ring dishes, and gift cards to Call Your Mother Deli (for a post-wedding bagel moment). These were wrapped in SCOUT Tiny Packages, of course.

Gussie’s guys can’t be beat, so she gifted her brothers monogrammed Mark & Graham totes and customized t-shirts and sweatshirts. These boys have been with her for the long haul, from saying yes to the dress to saying her vows, the Johns gang couldn’t be more loyal and fab. We hope Gussie and Alice’s gift bags inspire you to get a little gifty and celebrate as well. You can never have enough treats OR love, for that matter!
