Grab yourself a grasshopper and don your pearls, pastels, and PUCCI, friends! We’re headed to the Palm Royale. Inspired by Apple TV’s summer series hit, Palm Royale, this year’s party-for-a-great-cause GO BO party theme was “The Royal Palm Soiree,” and we’re dying to spill all the sweet tea on our annual night of both debauchery and fabulosity in the Johns’ Georgetown pool house and backyard.
Years ago, after beating pediatric cancer, Bo Johns began the multigenerational effort with his siblings, Gussie, Gibson, and Tucker, and parents, Deb and Ben, alongside their peers, to plan a massive party every September to raise money to support other families facing pediatric cancer. This event is hosted in the Johns’ backyard the weekend following Labor Day Weekend as an effort to celebrate and encourage others to contribute to a cause deeply important to the Johns family and the greater Georgetown community. And, knowing the Johns, there always has been and will be a theme! From tacky wedding to the British Invasion to Summer of Love, the themes offer all partygoers an opportunity to lean into a great costume and alter egos.
This year, pink and green prevailed as the overarching color story. From flamingoes, striped and palm frond drapes and throw pillows, Lily Pulitzer-inspired table linens, and themed rugs and mats in the pool house, the backyard was completely converted into an alternate reality for one night. Of course, beach balls were strung from the center of the tent inside which the live band ripped our favorite musical heaters.
With an open bar, photo booth, ice cream cart and popcorn station, snack bar, and pro shop decor, it is quite literally impossible not to have a ball. We love a big entrance, so golf carts lined the entry drive with pool floats inside as well. Alligator and lounge chair shapes added to our mod aesthetic alongside laughing mannequin adorned with PUCCI-inspired scarves. We love a prop, so each table was topped with Jackie O sunglasses for a decorative touch and additional flair for guests.
An additional sentimental element of this night is the opportunity for our SCOUT team to dress up together, introduce old and new friends, and create memories as a team. The interior world of SCOUT is truly as colorful and celebratory as our products and patterns season after season. We’re so lucky to have the chance to create and celebrate life's colorful adventures at both GO BO, and on a day to day basis.
Now that we’ve survived the following Saturday morning, consumed our breakfast sandwiches, and hung up our platforms, we’re already geared up to plan next year’s big night.
