Braving the mall (woof) or hunkering down on your desktop for post-holiday sales? Deb Johns has your stylish back this January and is prepped and ready to wave her red and green flags for your marked-down shopping as we enter this beautiful new year. Time to chop and shop with little Debbie before the goodies are gone.
DRESSES
We’ll start with dresses since they can feel weirdly tricky and sometimes intimidating. The best dresses to invest in are styles that can live on for many seasons to come. Shirt dresses are a perfect example. They’re seasonless, versatile, easy to pack, and come in varying lengths from mini to midi to maxi. Reach for prints or solids as you truly can’t go wrong. These pieces are on-trend now and can easily be worn into the warmer months.

CARDIGANS
We forget about these, and they come in so clutch no matter what the season. No, we’re not talking about bags (though you can peruse our website once you’ve read this post). We’re actually talking cardigans! Cardigans have become the softer and more playful “jacket” option, adding the finishing touch to sporty, casual, and dressed-up looks alike. By adding texture, flair, pattern, and color, we have the fantastic ability to create layered and dimensional dressing without buying an entirely new wardrobe. Cardigans quickly reenergize what we already have in our closets and are ideal for layering for transitional temperatures, seasons, and scenarios.

COATS
Like a sneaker or bag problem, some of us may have a little bit of a coat problem. In our book, that’s a good problem to have because coats have the power to make a strong fashion impact while delivering an extra layer of protection from weather pivots. Coats and jackets can coordinate or contrast looks from day to night or by setting and occasion. Shirt jackets or “shackets,” peacoats, and down jackets or “puffers” are leading the way. You can pair any of these with a sweatshirt or slip dress and look effortlessly cool, and also, most importantly, stay warm!

DUE DILIGENCE
The key to a great SALE haul is constantly checking in with yourself. Does this really fill a void in my wardrobe? Does this fit me properly? We ask ourselves these questions as we don’t want to spend a crazy amount of time and money on alterations for a sale piece. We’re also going to choose colors that work with what we already have in our closets. A little something funky here and there is great, but no one-and-done wears, please. Granted, don’t be afraid to spend on memorable items. These pieces could anchor some of your best looks yet. Mixing high and low makes your ‘fit more original and unique, and mixing designers and brands can do that as well! Go have fun, take chances, and buy items with meaning in 2023. Feel free to browse marked down SCOUT in the SCOUTlet as well. We love a good deal as much as you!
