The last few weeks of summer are like a Monday looming over your head after a wonderful weekend. We think to ourselves, “Ugh, don’t make me go back…” Here’s the solve: planning memorable trips to look forward to with people we adore. For the Johns, their yearly pilgrimage to Nantucket awaits like a special seashell quickly washed ashore. Gone before you know it, but brimming with sacred island memories, the ACK trip is something Deb cherishes and is happy to share. Her iPhone photo roll alone is enough to book your ferry ride for next year…

Getting the entire Johns household together for this trip is one of the coolest aspects of the experience. As one would imagine, schedules can get tight with this many people, but the group came together for another season of summer barbecues at the house, after dinner ice cream stops at the Juice Bar, and modeling sneak peeks of SCOUT Summer 2025 on the beach.

Speaking of sneak peeks, next summer will be filled with basket weave patterns, new cooler shapes, and hydrangeas with gentle patinas. Naturally, Deb pulls inspiration from the Nantucket Blues and other island facets surrounding the Gray Lady of the Sea. Flowers like hydrangeas, morning glories, and other native shrubs play a huge role in the beauty of this magical place.

ChanticleerPip & Anchor, and early morning visits to Handlebar for coffee, are a few spots the Johns enjoy, however, the group does a ton of cooking and grilling together at the house. For a destination that’s relatively remote, Nantucket has a wealth of food options and tempting little grocery stores like Sconset Market. Deb’s “plate pics” are filled with flavor and color crafted by the hands of herself alongside Gussie, Alice, Gibson, Tucker, Michael, Bo, and, of course, Ben. Peep those gorge Christmas card pics on the beach!

Apart from the natural beauty of the community, Deb also gets a host of iconic photographs of all the vintage Land Rovers, Jeeps, Broncos, and Mokes around town. Of course, the lighthouse and lifeguard stands cannot go unphotographed and featured with a little SCOUT product! Don’t even get us started on the architecture of the homes. Beyond enviable.

Though little by little different pairings of the Johns must hop on the ferry back to the mainland, Deb is the last one standing. She’s the hero who packs the car with the 4 Boys Bags and sandy towels, and makes the trek back to DC where she’ll pull from all her island inspo and begin crafting more awesome patterns and products for seasons to come. Though the seasons may change, we wish you many memorable summers to come. Plus, we can’t wait to kick off fall with you so soon!
